Are You Running The Right Race?

or years, I ran the 400-yard dash. In grade school, my competitive spirit kicked in and no matter whom I ran against, I won the race. In 8th grade, I moved to Texas, and for the first time had to try out for track.  Suddenly, my reputation as the fastest 400-yard dash runner was no longer valid.

       

The coach had me run the distance by myself while he timed me. I was stunned when I didn't make the team. I had never learned to pace myself; since I simply ran faster than everyone else. I failed when no one else was on the track with me.

Family: The Center of Life and Business

The Great Connection: Love, Life and Livelihood

y kids' lives are interwoven into the story of Essential Wholesale. It is the overwhelming desire to keep my children at the center of all of my days that drives me to be a part of our family business. This business allows me to go on every field trip my kids have, stay home with them when they are sick and be there for all the little things in between.

There are times when the kids end up spending the weekend at the office with me. My kids don’t mind coming to the office at all. Some days they are disappointed when I don’t need to come in. Last weekend I needed to come in and write about the new organic tinctures. The kids were thrilled to spend their Saturday at the office.

Keegan played games in the new employee break room for hours.

        

The girls turned the sample area into a skating rink.

                   

When I was ready to leave, the kids wanted to stay and play. It brings me such joy to know that they are having so much fun while I work.

Simple Shampoo

any have noticed that my new favorite sulfate free and paraben free shampoo is the Simple Shampoo . We chose it as a base to create the Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Grapefruit Shampoo and the Breathe Green Shampoo .

               

The Simple Shampoo is incredibly user friendly base because it has many of the cleaning qualities of a sulfated product without the unwanted ingredients. It does not have extremely high foam properties or produce massive lather like a sulfated product, but it works great. We tried hundreds of formulations before deciding on this formula. It was a funny ritual of taking home samples to try and then meeting each morning to say, “too thin”, “too much surfactant”, “too little surfactant”, “too drying” until one day we all declared, “it is just right!” And now it is our very favorite sulfate free shampoo. When I went to talk to Allison about the idea of the Breathe Green Campaign and the Pink Products there was no question which shampoo base we both wanted to use.
